The Rajanganaya Indigenous Seed Protectors’ Primary Agri-product Marketing Society is a prominent agroecology network in the Anuradhapura District of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. For many years, this network has led the promotion of traditional seeds and agroecological practices among smallholder farmers. It is also a member of the North Central People’s Planning Forum under MONLAR (Movement for Land and Agricultural Reforms), Sri Lanka’s largest agroecology movement and a member of the Nyéléni Global Forum.

On March 22, 2026, the society conducted a training program for smallholder farmers and home gardeners from the Surya Women’s Collective of Batticaloa District in the Eastern Province. The program featured discussions on the importance of agroecology-led food systems, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), culturally appropriate healthy foods, and place-based practices. The training also included demonstrations on traditional seed conservation and beekeeping; participants received traditional seeds for sharing and multiplication.

A total of 20 members from the Surya Women’s Collective participated in the session, which was led by a group of experts headed by Vimukthi De Silva. This initiative further signifies the horizontal collaborations and alliances growing between regional agroecology networks.
