Ecological Farming in Sri Lanka

A highly productive discussion was held on June 15, 2026 at the Department of Agriculture in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, to formulate a joint action plan for the future. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Agriculture (DGA), Dr. Ravin Thushara Wickramaarachchi alongside higher officials of the Department of Agriculture.

Representing the Movement for Land and Agricultural Reform, the MONLAR team was led by Chinthaka Rajapaksha. Key discussions focused on developing a collaborative program to expand ecological farming and successfully face the current challenges within the agricultural sector. This important step aims to build a sustainable agricultural framework with the support of the government, towards building a more sustainable future for Sri Lankan food producers.
