🇱🇰 Introducing the Sri Lanka FLOW Project! 🇱🇰 We are excited to announce another region joining the Food Learning and Growing Partnership. Sri Lanka is a nation with a rich agricultural heritage, but has relied heavily on synthetic chemicals so that today only 5% of arable land was being farmed understand sustainable production systems. In 2021, the government made the bold decision to ban chemical fertilizers and pesticides as a step towards transforming the food system. However, without sufficient support and alternatives, this move led to widespread food insecurity. As part of the FLOW Partnership, we’re exploring participatory governance to identify practical, community-driven solutions that will help farmers transition to more resilient, organic farming methods. By collaborating with local and international partners, we aim to create a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and resilient. 🥗 Introducing the Melbourne FLOW Project! 🥗 The peri-urban areas surrounding Melbourne are vital for food production but face increasing pressures from urban encroachment and climate shocks. The Foodprint Melbourne project draws on the FAO city region system approach by engaging a multi-actor group of local, regional, and state level government partners, civil society organizations and funders. Now as part of the FLOW Partnership, regional level partnerships are being strengthened.
