Foodprint Melbourne, out of the University of Melbourne, has launched the “Victorian Food Resilience Planning Toolkit,” a framework and set of steps that aims to support communities and organizations in Victoria, Australia in their planning for more resilient food systems. It was co-designed with stakeholders from across Victoria’s food system and funded by Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

The Toolkit includes a set of steps and fundamentals for food resilience planning, including:

  1. Assessing and mapping (to identify vulnerabilities to shocks and map assets for resilience)
  2. Visioning (to develop a collective vision for a resilient food system)
  3. Taking action (to build the resilience of food systems)
  4. Monitoring and evaluation (of food resilience initiatives)

See the Toolkit website for more information.

Foodprint Melbourne is a research project that investigates ways of strengthening the resilience of Melbourne’s food system to increase equitable access to fresh, healthy foods and promote sustainable production and consumption for current and future generations.
